Hello Jeremy

For the '80-'81 free online Passport manual, see page 168, section 18-2.
For the '82-'83 Passport, same manual, page 206, section 15.
For the '70-'72 C70 free online manual, see page 101, section 7. trouble shooting.

I cant locate the troubleshooting guides by model as you say, if you can provide a link that would be great.

[Honda-C70] Starting .. it's so easy!

Ok, I know I sound like a complete screwball but it real gives me a kick to not kick the bike.

I love push starting my C70! That's it.. nothing too profound for most but since I recently learned the simple way to push start I don't use the kick starter or electric.

Turn on gas, choke it, turn on ignition, upshift once from neutral, push it forward a few inches, upshift again, then push it a few feet (maybe 3-4) until it starts right up.

I usually do it on level ground it's so simple. The little things really make the bike more special.

I don't know if it could cause issues. Please advise..
unless I hear otherwise that's my method.

Best of luck,
Joe

Magnifico! Ferrari Brings F40 and 599 GTB Together for a Whimsical Duel

From time to time, automakers manage to overcome their crippling fear of being creative and actually produce something that's original and interesting for viewers. The video you're about to see is one such rare example.

Titled "Duel for the Crown – Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano", the short video, which is close to 4 minutes-long, shows Maranello's modern V12-powered gran turismo going up against the classic and still beautiful F40 that was built in limited numbers from 1987 to 1992.

Hop over the break to enjoy the clip and don't forget to power up the volume of your speakers...

Cadillac Challenges Mercedes-Benz by Pitting the Escalade Against the C-Class [Video]

We think most of you will agree with us when we say that, for the same reasons the Cadillac Escalade is extremely profitable, it also doesn't quite fit the brand's current image being sort of a throwback to the glory days of the classic American cruiserships.

But this didn't stop General Motors from raising the ante in yet another provocative commercial for Cadillac that follows the CTS-V spot featuring the Ferrari 458 Italia.

This time, the General took the Escalade and pointed its ammo towards Mercedes-Benz and its C-Class sedan. The video spot shows the big Caddy V8 beating the C300 on a straight line duel, and then…hauling back the Merc.

New Porsche 911: So, What Else has Stuttgart in Store for us?

Less than a month ago, Porsche unveiled one of the world’s worst kept secrets: the brand-new, 911 in Carrera and Carrera S versions. As usual, the coupe versions are just the beginning. Porsche may be criticized for carefully simply updating its classic model’s looks with each generation, instead of presenting something different, but apparently that’s what its customers want.

Even its most vehement detractors, however, cannot deny that the Weissach carmaker gradually rolls out many versions of the 911, which cover every niche of its segment –and then some… So read on to see how Porsche’s 48-year old sports car will evolve in the near future.

MT Slams 2012 Ford Explorer 2.0L EcoBoost, Says it's Slow, Clumsy, Pricey and Thirsty

Now here's a review that is bound to get the conversation heated up. Motor Trend's senior editor, Jonny Lieberman of former Jalopnik, The Truth About Cars and Autoblog fame, tried out the new 2012 Ford Explorer with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbocharged four that produces 240-ponies. And well, let's just say he didn't like it one bit.

After testing the Explorer, Lieberman states, among other things, that the 2.0-liter model is "slow, clumsy, pricey, thirstier than we would have thought, and a packaging disaster".

Toyota Design Boss Says "Pump That Up," But the Company's Ads Say, "It’s a Car"

As we reported earlier this week, raffish-haired Akihiro Dezi Nagaya, Toyota’s global design chief, plans to implement a more aggressive design theme for the brand. “We have eliminated emotion. We need to pump that up” he said in an interview at the Frankfurt Auto Show.

Changing Toyota’s “quiet and non-offensive” image won’t be easy. Nagaya will be faced with challenges both from within Toyota, a company known for consensus-driven conservatism, and with the brand's consumer base. Nagaya recognizes that Camry buyers, for example, “don't want something too aggressive.”

After a great trackday at the Modena circuit in Italy, the owner of this Lamborghini Gallardo took the road towards home. Little did he know just how much (deep) trouble he would get into…

According to supercar enthusiasts Marchettino who filmed his friend in the Italian supercar doing the rounds on the track and during the aftermath of the incident you're about to watch in the video below, at some point the owner of the Gallardo tried to pull to the side of the narrow road to avoid coming in contact with another vehicle.

Unfortunately, he miscalculated the width of the road and ended up half-way into the ditch.

I don't think they lie, they just make it easier for us consumers by rounding the number, either up or down. As they say, size does not matter, it is what you do with with what you have that counts!

Cup : To tell if the choke is on or off ,remove the pod air cleaner or rubber intake hose if the bike has the stock air cleaner , & look at the butterfly plate in the end of the carb . That is the choke plate. Move the lever & watch . When the lever closes the plate the choke is ON . A cold motor will usually need choke to start a warm motor may or may not. DRATV.com sells Lafan motor & has a section on how to install them . You might check there to see if he has info you can use with your project problem bike. As far as size , a HONDA C70 has 72cc cast right on the base of the cylinder. So a 97 would likely be called a 100 . My old Norton 850 was 824cc . ALL the companies lie about size. Subject: [Honda-C70] Help/Advice Kick Starting my Honda c70 with Lifan 4-stroke Engine...

So I have a Honda c70 with a Lifan 4-stroke Engine that reads 97 cm^3 on the side. The guy on CL I bought it from tells me it's 100cc though which I'm pretty sure Lifan doesn't make. The bikes wires are not intact so using the button to start it is out of the question for right now, and although I was able to drive it after push starting it down a hill I cannot for the life of me get it to kick start.

Does anyone have any experience with this issue and any info on what I might be doing wrong?

Bike has gas, oil, and a brand new spark plug. I have read to open the choke all the way but I can't find any diagrams online or photos on how to do this for my engine model. There are no labels. The lever goes up or down. Yesterday it push started while down.

This is my first bike and it's a real fixer upper (obviously) but I'm enjoying learning about it and boy was riding it around a blast yesterday. Just wish I didn't need someone pushing me to get it going.

Planning on doing the electrics soon as I can, I guess once that's taken care of kick starting won't be as important?

A kick start check list or a link to a manual or starting guide with photos would be awesome!

New Hyundai Veloster gets Turbocharged for Upcoming SEMA Show

We already know for a fact that Hyundai is planning to launch a more powerful version of its new Veloster sports car fitted with a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine delivering 208HP for a 0-62mph (100km/h) sprint time of under 7 seconds (Carscoop has officially confirmed all numbers), with European sales to start in early 2012.

We still don't know when and if this engine will be offered in North America, but those interested in a more hardcore Veloster will have a chance to see plenty of aftermarket options at this November's SEMA show in Las Vegas.

Among the many Veloster proposals that are expected to be displayed in SEMA, is a highly modified model created by Hyundai in partnership with ARK Performance.

Hey Baby Huey,

Thanks for the reply! I had went to a parts site found on here and got a better look at the L cover seal, it is the cam gear cover as I thought. The seal is only 3-4 $ plus shipping unless someone on here has one handy. There are three model #'s for the seal, I'll check the parts list to be sure. I cant locate the troubleshooting guides by model as you say, if you can provide a link that would be great.
Thanks again, Jeremy

That sounds like what you are talking about an oil leak. The head can be removed with out removing the cylinder or piston IF it comes to that. Are you using the troubleshooting guides at the bottom of the page for your year bike ? Also you might try going to a site like BikeBandit .com & using there parts schematics to get as better understanding of what is where & how it may fit & what it is called as well as order a part or gasket if it is listed as available. Color me Matte: New Renault Clio RS 200 “Ange & Démon” Edition to be Produced in…666 Units

Renault is playing the good versus evil card with its new limited run Clio Renaultsport 200 “Ange & Démon”, which is French for Angels and Demons. Deviously, the bespoke version of the Clio RS will be produced in a…fiendish 666 units worldwide - as most of you already know, that's the number of the Beast in the Book of Revelation.

Buyers can choose among three different matte shades, including Toro Red, Givre Nacré and Hologramme Grey, all of which feature a gloss black finish for the roof, upper tailgate, rear spoiler, rear diffuser, F1-style blade in the front bumper, the door handles and exterior door mirrors.

Re: [Honda-C70] After rebuilding my whole bike, I need a mechanic for the bearings

What part of the world are you in?
I bought a blind bearing puller cheap from a guy selling cheap tools off the back of his van. Does any of the auto supply houses
near you loan tools? the O' Reilly just up the road from me loans tools with a deposit.
Are your bearings seal or open face, have you tried to clean them? The original design was open face so you did not remove them to
clean and regrease. You just removed the wheel from the bike, removed the seal from the wheel and cleaned the bearing and hand repacked them.

Subject: [Honda-C70] After rebuilding my whole bike, I need a mechanic for the bearings

Okay so my bike is all up & running again after 2 months of dicking around, but I have a problem: my bearings are going out & instead of repacking them I figure I SHOULD replace them-- the rear wheel has 7K miles on it & the front has 3K but apparently it was an abusive 3K miles as it's worse than the rear.

So, knowing it'd probably be impossible to get my hands on a bearing removal tool for something this small AND with my previous luck with bearings, I was wondering how much it would cost for a mechanic to pack & swap them for me, bearings provided by me; Front set, rear set, drive flange bearings.

New Chrysler Ypsilon Supermini Makes its Debut in Britain [50 Photos]

The Fiat-Chrysler alliance has said that the two groups will work hand-in-hand towards the development of all future models, with the Italian branch handling the smaller and compact / medium segments and the American, the medium and larger categories.

We'll have to wait to see the first (real) results, but for the time being, the group is making use of one brand's vehicles to supplement the lineup of another brand through the age-old approach of rebadging.

Following the European premieres of the Chrysler 200, 300 and Town & Country with Lancia badges and names, the table has turned around with Chrysler welcoming a Lancia model into its range, the new Ypsilon supermini. But it's not for U.S. consumption.

New Citroen C4 AIRCROSS: PSA's Second Take on the Mitsubishi ASX

Is it sibling rivalry or pure coincidence? No matter: the PSA Peugeot Citroen Group unveiled today not one but two compact crossovers: the Peugeot 4008 and the Citroen C4 Aircross.

Both models are based on the Mitsubishi ASX and were created as part of an OEM agreement between the French automaker and it’s Japanese counterpart.

The differences between the two French models are purely cosmetic, with each variant featuring bespoke front and rear ends along with some other signature styling traits such as the Citroen's C-column trim.

Will Tire Tread Scanners Keep Roads Safer?

Posted: 30 Sep 2011 05:54 AM PDT

A few months back, Malcolm and I were headed north on I-95 after a Southern Automotive Media Association meeting in Miami. We were driving at around 75 miles per hour, in a steady rain and moderate traffic, when the minivan next to us spun.

The whole thing happened too fast to be puckering; one minute, the van was alongside us, and the next the driver was looking out his windshield at the side of my car. No one was hurt, and the van suffered only minor damage. Traffic was slowing ahead, and the minivan driver most likely tapped his brakes. What caused the spin? My guess is bald tires on a wet road.

Years ago, most states required annual vehicle inspections to certify that cars were safe to drive. Thanks to apathy, budget cuts or the idea that requiring repairs would put an "unfair financial burden" on drivers with limited income, annual inspections have largely been eliminated. The result is that many cars on the road today aren't safe at 35 miles per hour, let alone double or triple that. Scope the tires of cars in a shopping mall parking lot, and you'll see what I mean.

Motor Authority and AutoExpress report that a German company, ProContour, has developed a tire scanner, designed to spot unsafe tire tread depth. The scanner uses a series of high speed cameras and lasers to record and measure tread depth, at speeds up to 75 miles per hour. Tires that show wear to 1.6 millimeters, over the central 75 percent of the tread, would trigger an alarm at a nearby police checkpoint. Drivers would then be stopped and issued warnings or fines.

There's no plans yet to implement them on this side of the pond, but officials in the U.K are currently debating the benefits and drawbacks of installing the $67,000 scanners. While the scanners have the potential of increasing road safety, they also have the ability to generate revenue for local governments. As with speed cameras, we suspect the technology will be more about money than about safety.
