It's certainly within margin. I have the 72 with the straight through carb and they tend to do a little better. I can reliably hit 45-48 on the flat at 225# and occasionally kick up to just over 50. I think the later carb design wasn't as good though, but then I've always heard that top shape 70cc SuperCubs/Passports can do just over 50. The 50cc ones can do about 40. I think the 90cc ones can probably touch 55 or so.
I used to top 50 on my 71' CT70 when I was 14. Don't know how that relates, but it's the same engine.
