If it is leaking fuel into the crankcase, it can only be the new carb. Might be dirt on the float needle valve
or poor machining allowing the fuel to fill the flaot bowl and overflowing into the throat of the carb
and down into the cylinder. If that is the case, you need to figure out why the fuel does not shut off when the bowl is the correct height.

In the event that what you described is indeed what is happening, what do I need to do to fix the problem? I'm still relatively new to fixing stuff like this and I certainly don't want to disassemble something that doesn't need to be therefore creating much, much more work!
