Subject: [Honda-C70] Re: Fuel Leak
Bill:
Thanks for the quick response! I'll check it out tomorrow.
In the event that what you described is indeed what is happening, what do I need to do to fix the problem? I'm still relatively new to fixing stuff like this and I certainly don't want to disassemble something that doesn't need to be therefore creating much, much more work!
Thanks again!
Marc

The carb that I got fits o.k. but overall it's just a little bigger than the original. With a little fanaggling here and there it's on and working.
> On Sun. morning we drove the bikes down to this cafe which is about 3-4 miles away from where we live. After we ate breakfast and got back home, I shut off the ignition, turned the fuel off at the petcock and then topped off our gas tanks before wheeling them back into the garage. I keep them both parked on top of an old flattened corrugated box because they tend to drip a spot or two of oil (sweat from ALL THAT HORSEPOWER!) I came out into the garage after an hour or so and noticed an alarmingly large stain on the cardboard that was coming from my wife's bike. I didn't have the time to troubleshoot the problem so I stuck a 12oz aluminum baking pan underneath the leak so that it wouldn't get all over the garage floor.
> I just went out to the garage to see if I can locate the source of the problem. The baking pan was about 1/3 of the way full of a gas/oil mixture. I pulled off the leg shield to check that the fuel lines were intact and to see if the new carb that I installed had come loose. Everything was still on tight and seemed to be fine. I gently laid the bike on it's side to see if I could see where the leak was coming from. I cleaned the bottom of the motor with degreaser, stood it back up and waited for it to drip. The drip was coming off the bracket that holds the kickstand onto the frame. Everything on the front of the motor is clean but it seems to be leaking somewhere at the back. I still can't seem to locate where though. I was just wondering if there's something I should check before entirely pulling the motor?
