On my Yamaha I used LED turn signals on my panniers, because the stock signals were in the way. Rather than switch flashers (and in this case, lose the Yamaha self-cancelling feature) I added load resisters across the leads so the stock flashers would work the LEDs.

In frustration I removed the diodes, put the incandescent bulbs back in the signals but left the LED flasher and LED's in the speedometer. At least I have working turn signals again. I really needed to do this anyway because my old one was weak and would not flash except at high rpm.
