[Honda-C70] New battery question

 

I can only start my bike with a full charge on my just bought new battery. It's will start up only once, if I ride for a couple mile will that help keep the charge. I want to feel confident the bike will start if I go far....

PS. Will the air filter effect the start, starts w the choke open and air filter off. Have never started the bike with a air filter and casing on the bike?
