[Honda-C70] C70 for sale in San Francisco Bay Area

For sale:
1982 Honda C70 scooter with a brand-new 110 cc engine
23,925 miles total, but only about 100 miles on new engine
$1,200

I am the second owner of this scooter, and I have loved it for many years (bought it in 1986).

I am selling it for these reasons:

1. I am a 55-year-old woman living in San Francisco who used to ride it often to work. But as I've gotten older, I've frankly gotten more skittish about riding a scooter on the streets of a major metropolis. Drivers on cell phones are terrifying me.

2. The brand-new engine, put in in June 2010, operates only with the kick starter, which has gotten hard for me to work. (I think this new engine has different compression.) I can do it, but it's difficult for me. My younger friends don't have a big problem with it, but I do.

3. Also after the new engine was put in, it seems like it takes a longer time for the engine to warm up so that it doesn't die. It could be that I am not using the choke correctly, etc. I really don't know. But I find myself having to keep the throttle cranked for 2 or 3 minutes before the bike is warmed up.

4. The new engine's gears work in the reverse direction from the old engine. It is a 4-speed, powerful (110) engine, which is great, but you step down on the gear shifter, rather than up, to go from 1st to 2nd to 3rd to 4th, which is the opposite of what I'm used to, and I don't ride it enough to get the muscle memory working in this new direction.

Other than those things, the bike is really great. It has:
* a brand-new 110 engine that is so much more powerful than the original!
* new tires
* new battery
* new headlight
* rewired charging system
* new rear sprocket and chain
* new spark plug(s), all courtesy of the fabulous Charlie's Place in San Francisco.

Not to mention a good wire basket and a like-new beautifully upholstered seat!

If there is anyone on this board who is local and might want to buy my little bike, please let me know. I wanted to try this board before posting it on Craigslist because I know the people who subscribe to this group must love Honda Passports with their heart and soul, the way I do. It's just time for me to pass mine onto another good owner.
