RE: [Honda-C70] Re: Carb piston sticking

Chris is right about the plastic nub in the side of the slide bore . First try to see if the nub has gotten turned in its hole . It is not round & is longer than it is wide. If it has twisted crooked try to nudge it straight. Or try a finger nail file to VERY GENTLY try to smooth the edges enough to let the throttle slide move freely . Lastly, that is why I replaced my OEM carb after just what you have described as your cleaning caused my throttle to stick wide open in rush hour traffic 3 times . I am not suicidal enough to want to rear end a car or truck at full throttle. Until you are confident the slide is not sticking don`t trust it on the road. Good Luck ! Baby Huey

Yes there is. However I didn't realize that the projection that fits in the slot of the slide was relatively soft plastic, and I think I've scuffed it enough to cause the drag--and using a Sharpie marker to see where the drag is confirms that the drag is in the slot rather than along the diameter of the slide.

According to the diagrams I've seen the slot that goes all the way through the piston should mate up with a tab inside the carb. I can get it to line up, but with what seems to be excessive friction--it doesn't freely slide, and I doubt the spring has enough strength to hold it shut. What can I do to fix this?
